Young Historian's Day

Parents, looking for something education for your kids this summer? Kids, looking to get into history in a way that a book or classroom just can’t do? Well we have the answer! On Saturday, August 1st, the Luzerne County Historical Society will hold its first ever “Young Historian’s Day” at the Swetland Homestead! join us on the grounds of the 1803 Historic Home for period authentic games, living historians, historical crafts, and local history education! Celebrate the 250th of America by learning about your hometown! Tailored to children in grades K-8, the Young Historian’s Day offers something for everyone, whether your child is just starting to show an interest in history, or they are a true history buff. The Young Historian’s Day will run from 1pm – 5pm on August 1st and registration is just $35 a child. Cost includes, the programs, crafts, games, a snack and drinks. (Please note, no lunch will be served). Every child will also receive a coupon to return to the Homestead on August 2nd and attend the Open House for free! (With adult admission) Pre-registration is required, and their is a strict limit of 30 children. Upon registration, parents will be emailed a form to fill out prior to the event.
