DESCRIPTION:CASA of Wyoming Valley proudly invites the community to a complimentary screening of Brave the Dark\, a powerful and heartfelt film based on a true story of resilience\, compassion\, and hope. Brave the Dark follows Mr. Deen\, a dedicated teacher who discovers that one of his students\, Nate\, has been living out of his car and has landed in jail. What begins as a simple act of kindness bailing Nate out quickly becomes a life-changing commitment as Mr. Deen helps Nate confront the trauma of his past and overcome the inner struggles threatening his future. Following the screening\, attendees are invited to stay for a brief panel discussion featuring the filmmaker\, CASA staff\, and child advocates. Panelists will explore the film's themes and discuss the real-world impact of advocacy\, mentorship\, and community support for children and youth who have experienced trauma.
